National Education Equity Lab
New York, NY
Who is someone who inspires you?
We are inspired by those at the Gates Foundation, Carnegie Corporation of New York, United Way of New York City, the Cogut Foundation, the Common Application, Strive for College, Reach Higher, and additional partners and donors to our organization who make our work possible through their funding, time, and efforts. Our partner professors from Harvard University, Arizona State University, Cornell University, Howard University, and future schools to come also inspire us, and especially our students, with their love of learning and engaging course content.
What Project would a laptop help you with?
The National Education Equity Lab is a growing nonprofit — working with top colleges, universities, and other major institutions — that delivers online credit-bearing courses from top colleges and universities into teacher-led high school classrooms across the nation. Students can earn widely-transferable college credits, at no cost to them. The Lab also offers a package of additional support, including college mentors, college-mindset videos and messages, and personal technology so that access isn’t a barrier to participation. Our model makes college more affordable and accessible for low-income students and students of color in Title I high schools across the country.
What do you love about this project?
Providing new, accessible pathways for students to demonstrate college readiness. We believe that talent is equally distributed, but opportunity is not – and we aim to change that through advancing economic and social mobility opportunities for low-income students and students of color at scale.
