What Are You Most Passionate About?
Improving people’s quality of life is what drives me. This is why I strive to build good solar ovens to allow the people in my community to cook meals without using gas or petroleum. This means that we spend less and can use the money for more important things. Now that we have solar cookers I would like to spread this technology to help others.
Who Is Your Hero? Why?
My inspiration comes mostly from the Mahatma Gandi. He showed us that we were powerful even from our small village in the middle of Rajasthan. I try at my scale to pursue his goal to help others and not rely only on corporate owned solutions. We can make a difference together and computers are a way to get closer to the rest of the world.
What Is Your Favorite Sound?
In my everyday life I really enjoy when I hear the regular click of the Solar cooker turning : It means that it’s working !
How Would A Laptop Help You?
Having access to a laptop would help us document, share and promote our work. This way we can give other people the chance to build these Solar Ovens themselves and benefit from the same advantages we have. I think many people live in sunny areas either inside or in rural places and they could use this oven to spend less on fuel.
What do you love about this project?
This project addresses a simple issue, how to cook meals. The way we solved it is ingenious and doesn’t require complex or scarce materials. The tools needed are quite simple and it is effective. The big plus of this project is that it uses 100% renewable energy and that is something that matters a lot now !
