What Are You Most Passionate About?
The performance of our little students in a diverse and dynamic environment.
Who Is Your Hero? Why?
Maria Montessori for her theory and philosophy of education for young children. I am very much influenced by her method which emphasizes a child’s development through their own initiative and natural abilities through practical play.
What Is Your Favorite Sound?
I love folk songs. My body can’t help but move to them.
What Project Would A Laptop Help You With?
I am a part of a school that specializes in practical learning. With live demonstration and visual exposure, the children’s learning experience is enriched with a deep understanding of subject matter.
How Would A Laptop Help You?
I am one of the leaders of the Haushala Women’s Cooperative. We train women from challenging backgrounds in knitting and sewing to build financial independence. We sell these items in Nepal, and in the US. The profits support the women and also education for underprivileged children. I manage the bookkeeping and records for our cooperative, including the inventory, sales, and payments.
What do you love about this project?
After the 2015 earthquakes, we tried to entertain shaken children in a different way to help them recover psychologically from the disaster. Through an associate, we had the opportunity to let them get hands on with a laptop. They were so energetic and enthusiastic to learn and play. We saw lot of smiles on their faces during that period. That is what I love most about our work.
What Languages do you speak?
Nepali.
Given a choice, would you prefer a Mac or PC?
Either.
