What Are You Most Passionate About?
I am passionate about children & seniors in nursing homes. Our children are our future leaders, but we need to take the time and effort to guide them well first.
I volunteer with various activities that my son is involved in, such as youth football, for which I have been Team Mom and President of the Parent Committee. I believe that one person can make a difference and I want to be that one person. I want to children how to believe in themselves. If children everywhere could really believe in themselves, they could achieve their goals and conquer the world.
Also, I am passionate about seniors in nursing homes. Sometimes a loved one is placed in a nursing home because the care at home became too challenging. Well, I love the challenge. I currently work full time at a nursing home. I try to give seniors an extra day of life — otherwise known as Recreation Aid. I often fill the gaps when the family can’t make it in to visit.
The seniors are just as important as children. Our seniors led us to where we are, and now it is time for our children to take over.
Who Is Your Hero? Why?
My hero is Jesus. Jesus is always strong when I am weak. Jesus makes time for Dreveon and me. He has been our friend when we felt like we didn’t have any friends, has fed us when we were hungry, and created shelter for us when we had nowhere to go. When I feel like falling down and crying, Jesus steps in and comforts me. Jesus’ love is unconditional and I trust Him with everything. I can’t thank Jesus enough for all He has done for us. We read the 23rd psalms daily.
What Is Your Favorite Sound?
The ocean. The ocean and beach are so relaxing. Calming and soothing. I enjoy walking along the edges of the water, gazing out as far as I can see and letting my troubles dissolve into the water. The waves hypnotize, strengthen your mind. The ocean is a spiritual cleansing for me.
What Project Would A Laptop Help You With?
The laptop would be an asset to my son’s education. He is getting older and his homework requires more research. Right now, we go to library or to Office Depot to use the computers. Sometimes we’ll stay at the library until they close. If the computers at the library or Office Depot are all taken or they are closed, I try to research information for my son on my cell phone. We do anything necessary to get Dreveon’s school projects done because he needs his education in order to succeed.
Short Description Of Project
This school year, the state test is going to be given on a computer instead of a written booklet. If Dreveon had a computer at home, things would not only be easier for us but he would be able to practice more for the test. There are so many study programs I’d like to download for him and help him use at night.
We are also in the process of searching for a permanent home. Having a laptop would allow us to search available homes and complete online applications for housing.
I would also like to strengthen my professional skills so that I can advance in my career and earn a higher salary in order to support our family. I need to learn how to use computer programs like Word and Excel.
How Would A Laptop Help You?
Having a laptop in our home would open up a whole new world for Dreveon and me. My son would be so happy to have a computer like all of his friends do. When he visits friends, he is so fascinated by their computers and the games they can play. He has cried to me, begging me to get him a laptop so he can do the things other kids his age are doing. It breaks my heart that I don’t have the financial means to provide him with something that would make him so happy.
I am just so grateful and would appreciate either a Mac or a PC. Any computer would be a blessing to my family. I want to thank you for the opportunity to make my son a happy 10 year old.
