What Are You Most Passionate About?

I’m really passionate about serving my community & teaching families about small-scale farming. When people grow food themselves it is more nutritious and they know where it is coming from so there is greater food security. I’m also passionate about environmental education. We have to conserve our resources, so that humans and nature can support each other forever.

Who Is Your Hero? Why?

Dr. Henry Wainwright, co-director of Real IPM Kenya, for his visionary efforts to promote organic farming and the use of biological control measures for pests and diseases. It’s the best way for us to move forward and I find him to be an inspiration.

What Is Your Favorite Sound?

Tunes from the violin are my favourite sounds. I also love music, especially jazz.

What Project Would A Laptop Help You With?

Friends of Chania Dam is a community-based organization that started 2 years ago and has 16 volunteers. Our goals are healthy communities, clean and safe drinking water, and a self-sustaining ecosystem. Our kick-off project was the rehabilitation of a body of water known as the Chania Dam which is why we call the organization “Friends of Chania Dam”

Short Description Of Project

Friends of Chania Dam trains people in rural and semi-urban areas to build a symbiotic relationship with the environment. Families can find better nutrition, income and food security, when they learn smarter practices for agriculture, water harvesting, or rabbit rearing. We give people advice and share our skills to support people without giving money.

How Would A Laptop Help You?

We would be able to compile data on many households and farms; research emerging trends in bio-products; and find support and funding. We could also email other organizations to build a network. We have a big mission. A laptop would help us with every small task along the way.

What Languages do you speak?

English and Swahili

Given a choice, would you prefer a Mac or PC?

We don’t have a physical office so a Mac laptop would be amazing! It would allow us to work from anywhere.
