What Are You Most Passionate About?
Writing and sharing poetry about girls and women living in rural Nepal. When I write, I put my pain into words and share my reality. I feel my pain and troubles disappear into the page. Here, young people have many problems, and I want other girls and women to know that they are not alone.
Who Is Your Hero? Why?
Maggie Doyne. As a former student, she helped me realize the importance of education. She came all the way from America to Nepal at the age of 18 and sent orphans to school.
What Is Your Favorite Sound?
There is a temple near my house. Every morning at 5am, they ring bells for a few minutes to wake the Hindu gods. I love this sound because it makes me feel relaxed and refreshed and reminds me of the beautiful and important things in life.
What project would a laptop help you with?
I am part of a program called the Word Warriors of Nepal. Our objective is to give youth the opportunity and inspiration to explore their own voice. The young people in our society have so much to say, but their voices are often silenced in the name of obedience.
How Would A Laptop Help You?
A laptop would allow me to easily upload our work online for both archival purposes and exposure to new audiences. Additionally, it would help me to keep easy track of workshop results and my student’s submissions.
What do you love about this project?
I love working as a facilitator and teaching as many students as I can about spoken word.
What Languages do you speak?
Nepali, English and Hindi.
Given a choice, would you prefer a Mac or PC?
